Lobster Cottage

This place was amazing! Lobster Cottage was just what we needed to relax and recharge for the week. We had rabbits and owls in the yard, a two minute walk to the best beach spot on the island, a bay for kayaking with a launch practically right at our door, and a private area for grilling and hanging out on the porch. The shelling was amazing and Chip and his wife were the perfect hosts. We will definitely be back and are ready to check out the other cottages on his property.

Relaxing Quiet Perfect Vacation!

Lobster Cottage was the perfect vacation rental for us. Private, peaceful, and so relaxing! Close to Blind Pass for shelling for me,and fishing for my husband. Cottage is historical, rustic and tastefully decorated.Full kitchen for cooking ,microwave, and grill outside on the deck.Rates are reasonable. We wish we had found this gem years ago when we first started vacationing at Sanibel. 5 stars from us! Karen and Ernie E. Erie, Pa.

Sweetest little cottage on the island!

Thanks again Chip for sharing your family homes! We just loved both of our stays in your sweet little beach cottage. Its in the best location on the island. Short walk to Lazy Flamingo, Sunset Grill, The Mad Hatter, Santiva General Store, and the beach. Short bike or car ride to Captiva. You will not find a cuter or more comfortable little house for two anywhere on the island!

Cozy Cottage for Two

My husband and I spent a much needed week long stay at Lobster Cottage. The proximity to the beach and fishing was perfect. The cottage is clean and well appointed with "historical fisherman's cottage " charm. Having a grill and beach accessories made the experience complete. My husband enjoyed an afternoon nap in the hammock :) Sanibel is a majical place and the Lobster Cottage is a great place for peace and quiet on the beach.

Chip is the MAN!

Chip and Sam are the people you want for neighbors and we are so glad to have them as such for a week. The cottage was most comfortable and relaxing. The location is perfect, the beach is about 100 yards away, Lazy Flamingo 50 yards, we ate there about every other meal because it was such good food, the general store 50 yards away for beer runs. We are retired so the simple things in life are the most wonderful, this area is laid back, no hurry, not complex and all around great people. We will be back. Thanks Chip and Sam for a great stay!

Expectations Exceeded!

I spent a fantastic week at the Lobster Cottage! Everything was super clean (a big deal to me) and cozy. It far exceeded my expectaions for such a small cottage. Everything that you need is provided and in such a small space, that's impressive! Not that the space feels small in any way - it was perfect! Staying in a condo or hotel would have been a huge disappointment. The Lobster Cottage is truly magical. There were even Bald Eagles nesting in the top of a Ponderosa Pine right in our front yard! Spectacular! The shelling is definitely the best at the beach directly across the street at Blind Pass. I went to several beaches and even took a shelling cruise which didn't have near the treasures that I found right here. And, the sunsets - WOW! The hosts are gracious and are there to help make your trip perfect but are not intrusive at all. I highly recommend staying with the Wolfe's on your vacation to Sanibel/Captiva. I can't wait to return! Thank you for such a wonderful stay!

A slice of heaven

I've just spent a week at Lobster Cottage, and from the first day, I knew I had found a perfect retreat/vacation spot. Chip was very accommodating, helping me find paddle board rentals, bike rentals, restaurants, etc. Both he and Samantha made sure I wanted for nothing. The cottage is quaint and cozy, hidden away, and just a short stroll to the magnificent beach where turquoise waters beckon. Shell seekers can't find a better place to hunt for their treasures. I chose to bike rather than to drive, and it was an easy and inexpensive way to get around. I promise to come back.

Perfect spot

Located between Sanibel and Captiva, makes this an ideal location for your vacation. The manager Chip and his wife Samantha are there to make sure you have everything you need. They are friendly, low key and gracious. This location is a short walk to the best the island has to offer. It is low key and less crowded than other locations on the island. Walk to the beach, kayak or paddle board, ride the bike trails, sunsets and shelling are all right there waiting for you. The lobster house is ideal for two. It is so charming, that it is a favorite place for local artists to sketch on canvas. I. know because I purchased one of the paintings. It reminds me of the many happy times, I have been blessed to have been here over the past 10 years. It is hard for me to share this, because it is the best kept secret on the island. The Lobster house though quaint and small, has a well appointed kitchen,2 bathrooms and a bedroom with a king size bed. There are laundry facilities and a grill on the deck. The old fashioned windows Create a bright cheerful place to stay. When you open the windows the tropical breeze is refreshing, and at night lulls you to sleep. The deck is ideal for star gazing, watching the moon, or reading a book. The hammock is a great alternative to the beach for catching sun rays. Warning you will probably take a nap there. Just minutes from your door you can walk to 3 varied price resteraunts and a market. My husband loves to play tennis nearby, while I enjoy the beach, shelling or hopping on my bike, to ride the bike trail, that begins at the corner just steps away. The beach here is so romantic it is a favorite place for marriage proposals, and celebrating any special occasion. The sunsets are spectacular and when the sun dips there is spontaneous applause at its beauty. In the 10 years we have been coming Chip has provided the ideal vacation every time!

Great tropical feel

Lobster Cottage is in a super location and has a terrific, lazy tropical feel. It's definitely a barefoot vacation spot, just minutes to a great beach, a bridge where locals and tourists fish everyday, great shelling, and several good restaurants -- all in walking distance. The manager is very attentive to any request and everything is exactly as in the pictures. Our dog was very welcome and had a lot of company in the area and the people in the neighborhood are very friendly. If you want to kick off your shoes and relax, you can do it at Lobster Cottage.

Charming Cottage

We spent two peaceful and blissful weeks at Lobster Cottage at the end of 2015/2015. We arrived from Miami by way of London, England and we were very tired and exhausted. What we wanted is just what our stay at Lobster Cottage delivered; a quiet holiday in a charming property at the local (less touristy) end of Sanibel. I would say this location is a little of a bit of a secret to Sanibelians… everything is very laid back and easy going at this end of the island. Lobster cottage is bijou - as would say in Europe; that's to say it is compact, ideal for a couple, small but perfect. Chip, who manages the property has ensured that the cottage has everything you could possibly need for cooking, keeping warm, or cool and it's certainly comfortable. The property is decorated in a pleasing, vintage, nautical style. That's not to suggest everything is old and worn out - far from it. It's a style in keeping with the surrounding character of the neighbourhood. Chip met us when we arrived and gave us as much information as we needed to get going with where to find groceries and everything we needed; he has also created laminated notes with useful information on a pin board in the kitchen. Or he couldn't have been more helpful answering all our questions in the first couple of days. The cottage has a great outside deck - large and spacious with a barbecue and fantastic fire pit which was fun for us as we ate outside but being December early January the nights were a bit cooler so the warmth of the pit meant we could star-gaze and dream a bit. The cottage also has laundry facilities. Lobster cottage is 4-5 minutes walk from a beautiful beach. Even though it was the 'season' and there were plenty of visitors like us the beach close to the cottage didn't get as busy as some of the signposted beaches on the island. Once you are on the beach, you can walk for miles and there are some beautiful shells which is one of the major attractions of the island. Equally close by - 4-5 mins walking time - is a casual burger/fish place "The Lazy Flamingo" for quick bites/decent fast food and beer; a more upscale diner and a smart restaurant just across the street if you need it. There is also a general store - it's expensive - but good for the odd extra item and ice creams. We were keen to explore neighbouring islands and Cays and Chip was a good source of information about where to book boats or a dolphin cruise in Captiva which is just across the bridge at the end of the street.
